How to replace the battery in the iRobot Roomba

Replacing the battery with your own hands is very simple, but it is better to combine it with a small prophylaxis of the vacuum cleaner.

1 Turn the vacuum cleaner on the top cover and immediately unfasten the garbage container.
2 Unscrew the four screws for attaching the bottom cover of the Roomba. Look at the photo.

3 For preventive maintenance we take out and we clean axes of a roller of a wheel of the counter of the passed distance.

4 Unscrew the screw securing the side brush. See photos and videos. Remove the brush and remove the debris from the axis.
5 Remove the bottom cover of the vacuum cleaner.
6 For the side ears we remove the old battery from the socket of the vacuum cleaner body.
7 We remove all the garbage seen from the hull.
8 We install a new battery. If the installation is successful - Roomba will inform us.

9 We assemble the vacuum cleaner in the reverse order.
10 After assembly, we charge a new battery and the robot vacuum cleaner iRrobot Roomba is ready for operation.

I have replaced the battery for Roomba 500 model.

New battery not charging

Hello, I bought a new battery for my 500 series romba on amazon. The battery had excellent reviews When I place the romba on the base charger the orange light blinks for about five minutes then the green light goes on. I thought that maybe th battery came charged. When I pressed clean the message I got was please charge romba and error 5. I then plugged the charger directly into the unit. The orange light flashed and again when I pressed clean the light turned red and error 5. I unplugged the unit plugged it back in and followed instructions to reset it. There was no sound but I know the speaker works and after about 10 seconds the green light turned off. I unplugged it plugged in on the unit and the orange light flashed like it is recharging then turns green after about 5 minutes. Pressed clean message please charge romba. Amazon exchanged the battery and the same thing happened. I lightly scrubbed the contact points no effect. I searched YouTube and the only thing I haven’t done is replace the plug in the unit. Because it’s an expensive product I don’t want to give up. Does anyone have any suggestions? iRobot won’t help as the battery is generic
